About Yasin Ebrahim.

Curious about markets.
Committed to people.

My route into journalism began in private markets, where I learned what institutional investors ask and how much a clear narrative matters when the subject is complex.

I started out working with funds and placement agents in London. The job was to test a strategy, find the part that stood up to scrutiny and explain it to people with very different levels of market knowledge. I found that the explaining was the part I cared about most.

That took me into financial communications and then to journalism school, where I added reporting, investigation and newsroom discipline to the financial grounding I already had. More than a decade later, that combination still shapes how I work.

The newswire taught me to find what is essential. A headline tells the reader what happened. The harder part is explaining why it matters, what the evidence supports and what could come next across markets.

When a subject is unfamiliar, I approach it as a student. I find people who know it firsthand and keep asking “so what?” until the central point is clear. Markets rarely move in neat silos, so I follow the connections between central banks, equities, currencies, private capital and digital assets.

My CAIA and FRM qualifications help me challenge assumptions and speak to sources in the language of the markets they operate in. Newsroom experience has taught me when to move quickly, when to keep digging and how to make every word earn its place.

I now work across breaking news, analysis, executive interviews, video, visual explainers and strategic financial content. I also enjoy mentoring reporters and editors. Good journalism is a team effort, and high standards matter most when they are shared.

“I do this because the best financial journalism helps people see what is moving, understand why it matters and make a better-informed decision.”
